PRE-CERTIFICATION

How do I obtain pre-certification?

You may obtain pre-certification by contacting Anthem’s Precertification Unit the number listed on your identification card.

Will I incur any liability if I fail to obtain
pre-certification when it is required?

A penalty of $500 may apply if you fail to obtain pre-certification.

What about emergency admissions?

In the case of an urgent/emergency admission, you must notify us by the next business day for pre-certification approval.

What should be done in cases of maternity?

We must be notified in advance of your expected date of delivery for pre-certification of your maternity facility admission. When you are admitted we must be notified by the next business day.
